We have been advised by the Riverside Centre that from Monday 15th June visitors to the centre who use the car park must sign in at the reception desk and provide their vehicle registration number. Any vehicle parked without being signed in at reception will be clamped, and there will be a substantial release fee |

Images of the 1970 IOW Pop Festival by Chris WestonCongratulations Chris on your book launch and upcoming exhibitions The framed prints look fantastic, I particularly like the over the shoulder shot of Donovan on stage - I might even be tempted! From Friday 5th June to Monday 22nd June, the exhibition can be seen at The New Rembrandt Gallery, 15 Scarrots Lane, Newport. Further dates and venues will be announced later. The images will be available to purchase, as will The Last Great Event, a limited edition book, individually numbered and signed by Chris. |

Thanks you all for such a good showing at our first AGM on Wednesday. In all the excitement we forgot one very important item - we didn't formally thank our outgoing Chair. We all know how tirelessly Christopher worked for Wight Balance from day one, giving much of his time and expertise to get us up and running. Thanks so much from us all. I am looking forward to the year ahead, with Wight Balance continuing to grow and be a club we are all proud of. Thank you for giving me this great opportunity. I'll do my best to make this year a fantastic one for us all. Anne |

A highly successful evening! The Hasselblad Interclub Trophy competition was held at Arreton Community Centre on the 28th February 2009, hosted by the Isle of Wight Photographic & Digital Society. Three clubs took part, the hosts, Sandown, Shanklin & District Camera Club and Wightbalance Photography Plus. Each club submitted ten projected images which were judged by Barry Day, visiting from Portsmouth. A total of ten images were held over for further judging, six of which were our images. The final result was: 3rd place for the host club, 2nd place for Sandown, Shanklin & District Camera Club and 1st place to Wightbalance Photography Plus. There were 3 top marked images, 2 from Wightbalance and 1 from Sandown, Shanklin & District. Following the presentation of the trophy, Barry Day rounded off the evening with an excellent slideshow of a selection of his own images. Our thanks to our hosts for providing a very entertaining evening - and we are proud to hold our very first Trophy! Well done to our contributing members! |
