Wight Balance Photography meet 7:30pm every Wednesday evening at the Riverside Centre, Newport quay. At just 3 years young the club and its members have achieved notable competition success including:

The 4^thApril 2012 was a very special day for Wight Balance Photography Plus.

This was the day we paid our respects to the memory of Jack Skeel one of our founder members. Jack had past away in 2011 after a long illness. In his memory we held our first ever Interclub competition.

The All Island Interclub Monochrome Print competition was born.

Five clubs took part, and the competition was judged by Roy Lambeth CPAGB BPE2* committee member of the Southern Photographic Federation.

The competition was in two parts:-

Part one a 10 images from each club, highest accumulative score wins.

Part two best image in the competition wins.

In part one: - First was Wight Balance with a scores 91, Joint second with a score of 84 was Sandown and Shanklin District Camera Club and Niton and District Camera Club, followed by Isle of Wight Photographic Society with 82 points and Ryde Focus with 74 points.

There were four images that scored the maximum 10 points and they were Anne Lovelock “These Hands” Dionne Horsfall “Welsh Farm House” Barrie Joliffe with “Into the Vortex” and “A Rebel Yell” from these images Roy selected Wight Balance member Anne’s image “These Hands” to be the best overall winning image.

The two trophies were presented to the winners by Jack’s wife, daughter, and grand daughter and we look forward to 3^rdApril 2013 when we do the same again and celebrate the life of Jack Skeel.

Anne Lovelock Wight Balance member wins the 2012 Hasselblad Trophy.

Wight Balance are please to announce that two of our member Anne Lovelock and Brian Hamilton have come first and second respectively in this years All Island Hasselblad Projected Image competition hosted by the Isle of Wight Photographic Society on 1^stFebruary 2012.

Southern Photographic Federation judge Roy Lambeth had a very difficult job selecting the winner from an entry of 75 images. Of the 11 images shortlisted in the final cut 5 of images were from Wight Balance members. Well done to all who took part.

Ryde Focus, Isle of Wight Photographic Society and Sandown & Shanklin CC scoring 82 pionts.

Niton Camera Club scoring 81.5 points

East Wight Photography Group scoring 80.5

Dionne Horsfall of Wight Balance scored a 10 with "West Bay" and Kevin Etherington of Focus Ryde also scored a 10 with his image "Model in the Garden" . Our thank's goes to East WIght Photography Group for hosting the competition.
